TIME TOAST IN CLASS
This week in our English class with 3º ESO students, we utilized the tool TIME TOAST. Taking advantage of March 8th, International Women's Day, the students researched notable English or American women who made significant impacts throughout history.
Activity:
Creation of a Timeline of IMPORTANT WOMEN IN
HISTORY (UK, USA) with TimeToast for International Women's Day (March 8).
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Introduce students to English/American culture and the
importance of some women in history. Encourage research and teamwork while
gathering information. Improve presentation and communication skills by using
multimedia to enrich the timeline. Develop digital competencies by using the
online platform TimeToast to create and share the timeline.
INSTRUCTIONS
-Introduction: Introduce the TimeToast tool and demonstrate how to use it.
-Selection of Characters: Choose a variety of women representative of different
eras and fields. -Group Formation: Divide students into small groups of 2 or 3.
Groups should choose 4 or 5 important women and research about them.
-Research:
Each group researches their chosen characters using provided resources and other
available sources. They should gather information about their lives and
significant events.
-Creation of the Timeline: Groups use TimeToast to create
their timeline. They add important events in chronological order, include brief
descriptions, and select images or quotes.
-Review and Presentation: Once the
timeline is completed, groups review and refine their work. Then, each group
presents their timeline to the rest of the class, sharing the lives and works of
the selected women.
RESOURCES
Access to the TimeToast online platform. Reading
pages about the selected characters. Multimedia resources such as images of the
authors and excerpts from their works.
EVALUATION
-Accuracy in research and
presentation.
-Clarity and coherence in the descriptions of events in the
timeline.
-Creativity and effective use of multimedia to enrich the
presentation.
-Collaboration and active participation in group work.
-Some
things that I would change or improve next time: Using smartphones makes it more
difficult, it would be better to use computers.
-At least 3 ways that the use of
TimeToast helped you achieve your learning objectives: It is a practical,
easy-to-use, and highly engaging tool for my students to work on literature,
history... or to craft biographies using appropriate verb tenses.
At the end of
the activity, they have developed a deeper understanding of English culture and
the importance of some women in history. The experience of creating a timeline
using TimeToast has provided them with a practical and effective tool for
visualizing and sharing information clearly and concisely.
