Dear readers,
I am excited to share with you an inspiring activity that took place in my classroom recently. As an educator, I believe in the power of experiential learning and the importance of teaching students about diversity and respect for other cultures. With this in mind, I designed an activity for my 4th-year ESO students that would not only educate them but also encourage empathy and appreciation for cultural differences.
We embraced StoryJumper to craft interactive stories celebrating cultural diversity. Students explored folklore, personal narratives, and global traditions, fostering empathy and respect. Through collaboration and creativity, they discovered the power of storytelling to connect and unite diverse comunities.

My reflection :
- How did you organise the groups?
5 groups of four students
- What was the sequence of tasks that you followed to get to the final product?
As educators, introducing new tools and platforms to our students can open doors to creativity and learning in exciting ways. Recently, in my 4th-year ESO class, I embarked on a journey of cultural exploration using StoryJumper, a dynamic platform for creating interactive stories. Here's a glimpse into our experience and the valuable lessons we learned along the way.
-What were the specific learning objectives for this activity? How did the use of the tool help the learners achieve these objectives?
Specific Learning Objectives:
1. Understanding Cultural Diversity: Students explored various cultures through storytelling, learning about customs and traditions.
2. Empathy and Respect: Through immersion in diverse narratives, students cultivated empathy and respect for different cultural perspectives.
3. Creative Expression: Using StoryJumper, students honed creativity by crafting visually engaging stories.
4. Collaboration: Peer feedback and group discussions promoted collaboration, communication, and teamwork.
How the Tool Helped Achieve Objectives:
StoryJumper facilitated research, creativity, and collaboration, allowing students to express cultural understanding, empathy, and creativity while fostering teamwork and communication skills.
- In what ways (be specific) was creativity and the use of imagination encouraged in your students?
Creativity and imagination flourished as students crafted original stories with StoryJumper. They invented diverse characters, settings, and plotlines, utilizing vivid visuals and interactive elements to engage readers. Collaborative peer feedback encouraged innovative thinking, fostering a culture of creativity and imaginative expression in the classroom.
- What did your students enjoy most / least about this activity?
Most enjoyed crafting imaginative stories and exploring diverse cultures. They appreciated the freedom to express creativity. They valued the opportunity to learn, create, and share in an interactive and engaging way.
- What would you change next time?
Next time, I would give more time for students to work on their stories, allowing for a more thorough exploration of topics and greater attention to detail in their creations. This extra time would provide students with the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the storytelling process and refine their stories to their fullest potential.
-How were the finished projects shared with the rest of the class?
We watched the works on our digital whiteboard
-What opportunities were there for students to co-evaluate and discuss the learning experience with each other?
Students had the opportunity to co-evaluate and discuss the learning experience through peer feedback sessions, where they shared their stories with classmates and provided constructive criticism. They also engaged in group discussions to reflect on their creative process and cultural insights.
